Nutrition & Wellness Policy & Resources

A revised version of the nutrition & wellness policy was adopted by the Board of Directors on July 29, 2024, to comply with the final rule issued by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The new policy, developed by a district-wide wellness committee, emphasizes access to nutritious foods, health and physical education, and opportunities for physical activity.

Parents and community members are invited to join the wellness committee and/or offer input. If you are interested in joining the committee and learning about the regulations that govern school nutrition programs, please contact the Food Services Manager at 360-426-6767.

Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program (FFVP)

The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) is a USDA initiative designed to provide children in grades K-6 with fresh produce during the school day. This program aims to improve students' nutrition and encourage healthy eating habits by offering free fruits and vegetables in schools. Teachers can incorporate FFVP into their lessons by exploring the benefits of nutrition, engaging students in taste tests, and fostering discussions about healthy food choices. By participating in FFVP, schools not only enhance student health but also promote lifelong healthy habits!
