September 27, 2024

Dear Mary M. Knight Families,

I am writing to follow up on the message sent on September 26, 2024, regarding a potential threat to our school district. Since then, we have met with the student involved and their family, as well as interviewed other students who may have overheard comments made on the school bus.

We have also been in communication with the Mason County Sheriff's Office.

After thoroughly investigating the situation, we have determined that there is no credible threat to the Mary M. Knight School District.

The safety and security of our students remain our top priority, and we take all concerns seriously. Moving forward, we will continue to work closely with the student involved to provide appropriate support throughout the school year.

This is a good opportunity for parents to remind their children that any type of comment or statement, whether online or in person, is taken very seriously. These situations are investigated, and disciplinary action may follow if necessary.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me, Mr. Stoney, or Ms. Bell.

Sincerely,

Matt Mallery

Superintendent
