🌟 Youth Voices at the Center! 🌟

Today, the Economic Development Council of Mason County (MasonEDC) visited Mary M. Knight to interview high school students and hear directly from them about the barriers to employment in Mason County.

We are proud to share that 11 MMK high school students participated in this roundtable, offering thoughtful insight, personal experiences, and hopes for improving youth workforce opportunities in our community.

This event is part of the ongoing Youth Employment Roundtable Series, which focuses on elevating student perspectives and connecting them with regional workforce resources. Following the student discussion, representatives from the Pacific Mountain Workforce Development Council shared information on youth pathways, training opportunities, and job support programs.

A huge thank-you to our students for their leadership, to MasonEDC for engaging with our youth, and to PacMtn for supporting future career success.

✨ We are proud of our MMK students and excited for what this partnership will bring!

Our Primary OWLS Soar at the Hands On Children's Museum! πŸ¦‰

What an amazing week for our youngest Mary M. Knight OWLS! Our K-3rd grade students had the incredible opportunity to visit the Hands On Children's Museum in Olympia, and we couldn't be more excited to share this experience with you all!

A Day of Discovery and Learning
Our primary students dove headfirst into hands-on learning experiences that brought science, technology, engineering, art, and math to life! Throughout their visit, our OWLS:

✨ Explored interactive exhibits that sparked curiosity and wonder
✨ Participated in STEAM workshops that got them thinking, creating, and problem-solving
✨ Created unique artwork in the Arts & Parts Studio to bring home and share with their families
✨ Engaged with exhibits aligned with Washington State Learning Standards

Why This Matters
As a small, rural school district with 185 students K-12, every field trip is precious. Opportunities like this allow our students to experience the world beyond our community, engage with new ideas, and learn through doing in ways that complement the strong foundation we're building in our classrooms every day.

A Heartfelt Thank You πŸ’™
We are incredibly grateful to the Hands On Children's Museum for welcoming our OWLS and providing such an enriching, educational experience. Your commitment to hands-on learning makes a real difference for rural students like ours.

And to our Mary M. Knight communityβ€”thank you for your continued support of experiential learning opportunities for our students. Together, we're opening doors and creating possibilities for every child.
