🎵 Music & Games in 4th Grade! 🎵
Our 4th graders are making music learning fun with an engaging game of Shark Attack! While mastering quarter and eighth notes, students collect Nemo music note cards while navigating challenges like Shark Attacks, Jellyfish encounters, and Schools of Fish.
This interactive approach to music notation not only keeps our students engaged but builds essential skills they'll need for recorder lessons in 5th grade. The game reinforces rhythm recognition through clapping or verbal identification, making music theory both accessible and enjoyable.
Combined with their ongoing xylophone instruction, these young musicians are developing a strong foundation in sheet music reading. The enthusiasm and friendly competition during today's lesson showed just how engaging music education can be!

Exploring Science in 5th Grade! 🔬
Our young scientists in 5th grade are diving into some exciting hands-on learning as they master the fundamental skills of measuring mass and volume. These essential measurement techniques are crucial building blocks for their future scientific endeavors.
Through engaging laboratory activities, students are learning how to use scientific tools with precision and accuracy. They're discovering that measurements aren't just numbers – they're key to understanding the physical world around us. Whether they're calculating the volume of different objects or determining mass using balance scales, our 5th graders are developing skills that will serve them well in future science courses.
What makes this learning particularly special is seeing the students' enthusiasm as they make connections between these measurement concepts and real-world applications. They're beginning to understand how scientists use these same skills in everything from cooking to engineering!
Keep up the great work, 5th grade scientists! Your dedication to learning these important scientific skills is truly impressive! 🌟

Building Positive School Culture at MMK! 🌟
Our 8th graders are leading the way in creating a more supportive and encouraging school environment through their Character Strong advisory lessons. Today's focus was particularly meaningful as students explored the power of showing up for one another and celebrating each other's achievements.
The challenge presented to our students was simple yet impactful: gather friends to attend school events and actively support their peers who are participating or competing. This initiative helps strengthen our school community by teaching students that their presence and encouragement make a real difference.
It's heartwarming to see our students engaging in discussions about how attendance and positive support at school events can transform our school culture. They're learning that when we cheer for our classmates during sports games, applaud during performances, or simply show up to support various school activities, we're building a stronger, more connected MMK family.
Great job to our 8th graders and their teacher for diving deep into these important conversations about mutual support and school spirit. These are the kinds of lessons that help create the positive, encouraging environment we strive for at Mary M. Knight.
